Hostel Vanilla 3 Suite Dongdaemun

The location was very good, it is located near subway station and bus stations, also it is near the Dongdaemun market and Dongdaemun history&culture park. There are grocery shops and restaurants in the area, also it’s only one station by bus away from Ihwa Mural village. The location of the hostel is quiet. Room was nice, clean and had everything what we have needed. The bathroom was clean. The room is in a hanok style so it was interesting experience for us. There is also a little fridge when You can keep a few things. Just around the corner, there is a local market with few shops and with local food. The stuff is very helpful, they do speak english well, they keep contact via whatsapp and whenever You need them, they do response and help. They came foe us to the station when we have arrived, so that was very kind.

The rooms are not sound proof. We had a little too noisy neighbors, they were talking in the night and it was like they were sitting next to us in the same room. Also in the bathroom was high humidity. The stuff was cleaning the room when we were not there, which is nice, but at first we were feeling a little uncomfortable, because we were not expecting it.

The hosts are super helpful, friendly and kind, one of the reason I returned to their hostel again. The amenities were also great got all the stuff needed.

Had a hard time with the thin bed but hosts provide as much comfort as possible such as extra pillow or blanket

My mum really loved the place. Cosy and homie. 2min walk from metro station. Walking distance to lots of touristic place

- didn’t find tissue in pantry, have to use toilet roll - only one duvet was not enough for mum and me, need to ask the owner to bring it around midnight - moldy smell in the toilet

Great place to stay. The hosts were very friendly and took us to hostel from metro station. Also called the taxi for us to airport. Room is very clean and well-equipped. Great location where is nearby Dongdamun. Only take 10mins walk to DDP. The traditional Korea bed is placed on the ground so it's a little bit hard for sleep. It's fine for young people but may impact the sleeping quality of pregnant women or the elderly. Generally speaking, it's definitely a good hostel where I will suggest my friends to stay in the future!

The hostel has floor heating and it is nice for cold Korean climate! The hostel is really cute in Korean traditional house style! We have self service breakfast and could enjoy drinks, bread, toasts, and other easy meals there! Shower and toilet are not separated, it’s not really bad, but we Japanese are not good at using such kind of shower room.haha Especially, owner is really kind and we were comfortable to stay there! They have good response in LINE or e-mails, and when we have questions they try to give some tips soon. We didn’t have enough time on this trip, but if we had more time... we wanted to stay the room more and more! I mean... so comfortable room! Thanks and hope to see you again :3 <333

The hosts were extremely hospitable,.evrything you need, one just need to ask. The location is also just on the subway exit. we will stay again if we go back korea.

The room was a little cold, if they turn uo the heater ur back would be too hot then w/o comforter itll be too cold.

The hosts are super awesome. They are above and beyond my expectation in everything. Soo contacted me when I booked the hostel about our flight and explain how to get to the hostel. And on the check in date, her husband walk to pick us up from Dongdaemun subway. Even though it was only 1 min to get to the hostel from the station. It was so convenience to travel around in Seoul by the subway. The room is in a good size for the traditional Korean style hostel. They even provide a shared kitchen with many free food for you to eat anytime. There are many good restaurants in the walking distance which are opened until late at night, and a cloth night market, which is opened until morning. Soo and her husband really made us felt like home when we were there. They help us with planing our trip and booking a bus to a ski resort. They were quick to response via Line all the time. Thanks so much for treating us so well. We will go back again if we go to Korea. :)

Nothing at all.

Love the location. Unlike other Hanok kind of accomodation, which usually located a little far away fr the center, this one is right in Dongdaemun area. Tucked away behind the busy street, you can easily go to local market and local street food. Ilir and Soo went extra miles to keep their guest comfortable. Also the tiny cute details in every corner. Place was quiet, you certainly will have your 'me' time.

Almost nothing, probably the little bathroom/toilet space... still manageable though.

Vanilla suite was my first time Korean traditional house. It was beautiful and cozy place! thanks to the kind and patient help of the staff. The staff also helped plan out my Seoul trip. They were extremely accommodating all throughout. The room itself was fantastic Korean traditional house with modern design , it has everything inside my room ( fridge with free drinks , small kitchen, air-con and TV).The interior was very cozy same as photos. If I were to come back to Korea I would definitely come back to Vanilla suite for my next Seoul trip!

The subway was only 2 minutes away, but the alley was very narrow

방음이 너무 안됩니다. 옆방에서 핸드폰으로 게임하는 소리 까지 다 들림 관리하시는 분도 체크인,아웃할때만 보이고 내내 마주친 적이 없음 방도 생각보다 작아서 2인이 쓰기엔 좀 답답할 듯

잠자리도 편했고 아침식사도 맛있었어요

방에 창문이 없어서 답답한 감이 없지 않아 있었어요~^^

동대문역 2번출구에서 도보 1분 안되는 곳에 위치해 있어서 좋았습니다. 한옥의 게스트하우스였고, 다른 손님들도 있었지만 소음이 걱정되는 수준은 아니었어요. 조식은 빵, 계란, 라면, 씨리얼 이었는데 취향에 따라 골라먹을수 있어서 좋았습니다.

방과 화장실이 좁아요. 이불도 조금 큰 사이즈였다면 좋았을거 같아요. 성인여자 2명이 딱 잘만한 크기에요.

엄청 친절하게 안내해주셔서 좋았습니다.

Great place to stay and explore Seoul. Location is perfect, tucked into a small alleyway in Dongdaemun. Very close to subway stations. Walking distance to DDP, the city wall and everywhere! Eateries and convenience stores all around (Kyochon is right around the corner across the street and it's open 24/7 if you're craving for fried chicken at 3 in the morning). The room was small but equipped with a kettle,mugs and a sink. The shower is small so it can get a little tricky but you'll get used to it. The kitchen area has everything you'll need to cook, make tea or coffee and also extra towels and plug adapters. The whole place is fully equipped to make your stay comfortable. Host was super responsive and kept in touch throughout the stay. Overall a great experience staying in a hanok!

I enjoyed sleeping on the floor but my partner isn't used to it. Perhaps provide a thicker mattress next time.
